Suzanne Frasca, D.O., FACOB
Dr. Suzanne Frasca received her medical degree from Midwestern University’s Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine in Glendale, Arizona and subsequently completed an Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at Beth Israel Medical Center/Albert Einstein School of Medicine in Manhattan, New York. She served as an Administrative Chief resident and upon graduation received the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists – AAGL – award for her laparoscopic skills. Dr. Frasca remained at Mount Sinai Beth Israel (formerly Beth Israel Medical Center) as a Faculty Attending Physician and Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology until her recent move to Healthy Woman Ob/Gyn. Dr. Frasca brings depth of experience, compassion and an intense dedication to her patients to the Healthy Woman family.
As a longstanding member of the Faculty Practice and Ob/Gyn department at Mount Sinai Beth Israel, Dr. Frasca boasts an extremely low primary and overall low cesarean section rate, as well as a highly successful VBAC rate compared to New York State and national averages. She is a champion for maternal – child issues including being a proponent of breastfeeding through education. Over the years, Dr. Frasca has focused much of her energies on the training and education of Ob/Gyn and Family Medicine residents, Certified Nurse Midwives, and medical students. In recognition of her devotion to medical education, she has received a number of departmental faculty teaching awards.
During her tenure in the Beth Israel Medical Center and Mount Sinai Health Systems, Dr. Frasca enthusiastically took on numerous administrative and educational roles in addition to being a senior member of the large faculty practice there. She was formerly the Director of the QI committee and remained the Director of Simulation Education, for both Obstetric and Laparoscopic skills until her recent departure. She had participated as a member of the Education, Perioperative services, and Breastfeeding committees as well. Dr. Frasca also took on an active leadership role in the Patient Safety Initiative for the Ob/Gyn department. She is a Team S.T.E.P.P.S trainer, speaker for the A.C.O.G Safe Motherhood Initiative, and was the Ob/Gyn department educator for various obstetrical emergencies – with an expertise in postpartum hemorrhage, shoulder dystocia and operative vaginal delivery risk reduction. Dr. Frasca is a principle investigator for the S.A.F.E.S.T. (Skills for Attendings Facilitated by Education and Simulation Training) Study for the Hospital Insurance Company – HIC/FOJP – an ongoing multicenter prospective study attempting to demonstrate the benefit of simulation training for Attending Physicians in the reduction of adverse events.
